Heavy Metal wishes a happy birthday to creator Simon "Biz" Bisley! Artist Simon Bisley was born on March 4, 1962 in Lincolnshire, England. "Biz" began drawing at the age of six years  old. Influences on Bisley's art-style include Gustav Klimt, Frank Frazetta and Richard Corben among others.

Bisley's first commercial work was a t-shirt design for the rock music magazine Kerrang! Eventually he was picked up by 2000 AD magazine, after mailing his artwork to the publication's offices. At 2000 AD, he would be hired to illustrate the reboot of the comic "ABC Warriors".

Bisley has worked for many different clients and publishers over the years, including, but not limited to:
2000 AD magazine - ABC Warriors, Slaine, Judge Dredd.
Various album cover illustrations for musicians - including multiple covers for Misfits singer Glenn Danzig's solo albums!
Heavy Metal  magazine - Bisley has contributed many HM front covers, and stories. Biz also worked with Kevin Eastman on the graphic novel "Melting Pot/F.A.K.K.2.", which became the basis for the plot of the film "HEAVY METAL 2000".
DC Comics - Bisley's work on the early-1990s comic series  "Judgement On Gotham" won him an Eisner Award in 1992! ("Judgement on Gotham" was a crossover series between DC's Batman and 2000 AD's Judge Dredd.)
He also created cover artworks for PC Games magazine , a now-defunct UK computer games focused magazine from the 1990s.

Some of the many awards and nominations received over his illustrious career include:
- Winning the 1992 Eisner Award for "Best Artist"  for his work on the "Judgement on Gotham" series. Biz was nominated for several other Eisner awards from 1992 - 1993. In 2024, he was instated into the "Hall Of Fame" of London Film And Comic Con.
